Exam Paper Formats

1. Level = 0, Category A Mentally.

Below is the Sample Question for International Abacus Olympiad 2025.

The Category A for ages 5-7yrs old is tailored for beginner students who dont have knowledge of abacus or have started their abacus journey a month ago and have yet to complete 34 formulas. The exam will include Mental/Speed Maths questions and will not follow Abacus Format. If your child wishes to use Abacus tool but have just started Abacus or has not completed all 34 formulas then please dont choose this level rather choose Level (Without Compliments) Category A

Exam Questions Pattern:

    • 1 digit in 3 rows (Simple Addition & Subtraction)
    • 100 Sums (1 mark each)
    • Total Marks: 100
    • Total Time: 30 minutes

2. Level = 0, Category B Mentally.

Below is the Sample Question for International Abacus Olympiad 2025.

Category B for the ages 8-11yrs old  is specifically designed for beginner students who dont have knowledge of abacus or have recently started their abacus journey (within a month) and have not yet completed 34 formulas. If your child wishes to use Abacus tool but have just started Abacus or has not completed all 34 formulas then please dont choose this level rather choose Level (Without Compliments) Category B

3. Level = 0, Category C Mentally.

Below is the Sample Question for International Abacus Olympiad 2025.

Category C for the ages 11-13yrs old  is specifically designed for beginner students who dont have knowledge of abacus or have recently started their abacus journey (within a month) and have not yet completed 34 formulas. 4. Level = 1, (Rod Shifting Techniques on formulas based) Optional : With Abacus Tool or Mentally.

6. Level = 3 (Basic Level Formulas Based) Optional : With Abacus Tool or Mentally.

Below is the Sample Question for International Abacus Olympiad 2025. 

Level=3 will include all 34 formulas, rod shifting techniques and multiply techniques.

    • Question Format: Additions, Subtractions and multiply sums.
      • 2 digit in 4 rows
      • 2 digits in 3 rows
      • 2 digits multiplied by 1 digit
    • 100 Sums (1 mark each)
    • Total Marks: 100
    • Total Time: 30 minutes

7. Level = 4 (Basic Level Formulas Based) Optional : With Abacus tool or Mentally.

Below is the Sample Question for International Abacus Olympiad 2025.

Level=4 will include all 34 formulas and rod shifting, multiply and division techniques.

Exam Questions Pattern:


    • Question Format: Additions, Subtractions, Multiplications and Divisions.
      • 2 digits 5 rows
      • 2 digits 3 rows
      • 1 digit 5 rows (Addition Subtraction sums)
      • 2 digits multiplied by 1 digit
      • 2 digits divided by 1 digit
      • 3 digits divided by 1 digit
    • 100 Sums (1 mark each)
    • Total Marks: 100
    • Total Time: 30 minutes

  • Category A: Below 8 years old (5–7 years)
  • Category B: Below 11 years old (8–10 years)
  • Category C: Below 14 years old (11–13 years)

Exam Related Information​

  1.  While Registering participant have to check their profile including photo upload & other details before final submission. You will receive an e-mail of your application on registered e-mail after the successful submission of your application. If you have done any mistakes in your application you can change it anytime before the exam.
  2. While registering, parents official email id’s are not allowed. kindly register with your personal valid email id. E.g. Gmail, Yahoomail, Rediffmail.
  3. Kindly enter participant name correctly as same will be printed on the Participation & Winner Certificate.
  4. Teachers / Parents / Coordinators must  understand the categories [ MANDATORY ] in which your child is eligible for before registration.
  5. Number of categories are subject to change.
  6. Once the registration & other formalities are completed. Participant will get 1 practice mock test 15 days before the exam.

System Requirements (Laptop / PC) for Online Examination​

  1. Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 8 operating systems are not allowed as it is officially discarded by Microsoft in the Year 2014 & January 10,2023.
  2. PC / Laptop have to be upgraded / updated.
  3. Only Google Chrome and Firefox browser are allowed.
  4. Computer configuration min Core 2 Duo (Dual-Core) with 4 GB Ram is required. Mobile configuration minimum Android 10 with 2-4 GB Ram is required.
  5. The User should check for any kinds of downloads running on the system for better performance. (including Windows updates)
  6. Minimum 2 mbps (wi-fi ) internet speed is required .
  7. Please don’t use mobile phone/i-pad/tabs for exam.
  8. Students can attempt their exam from home (if they have wi-fi (broadband).
  9. Students can also prefer cyber cafe for better internet speed.
  10. Laptop / PC connected through Mobile internet (non – reliable ) can create low internet speed. International Abacus Olympiad is not liable to answer your issues / questions related to internet problems you are coming across with.
  11. Webcam is COMPULSARY for final exam. On successful login the system will try to detect WEBCAM. Only on successful detection system will proceed further.
  12. Last minute webcam failure cases will not be considered while taking out the final result.
  13. Power failure issues will not be entertained.
  14. International Abacus Olympiad. will not be responsible for any kind of internet issues happened at your side.
  15. Re-examination can be conducted for participant under any circumstances.
